Rawkstars provides free music education and instruments to kids throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island, believing that access to music is a basic human right.

Since 2003, they’ve built something special — not just a nonprofit, but a passionate “fan club” of supporters who believe in the power of music to transform young lives.

THE CHALLENGE

A Single Page Couldn't Contain Their Energy

Rawkstars faced a unique growth challenge. Their existing single-page website looked outdated and failed to convey the full scope of their work or the profound impact they were having on young musicians. Our Process

Designing for Authentic Connection

Our Nonprofit Beacon assessment explored what made Rawkstars’ community special — the genuine friendships, shared passion for music access, and long-term commitment of their supporters. Through strategy and alignment workshops, we identified how to translate their “fan club” culture into digital experiences that felt personal rather than corporate, even as they grew their reach.

UX research revealed how current supporters engaged with their content and where potential new members might connect emotionally with their mission. We developed two design directions that prioritized authentic storytelling while creating seamless pathways for community engagement and support.

This collaborative process ensured the final approach would honor their grassroots culture while supporting sustainable growth.
